Tips for Writing Letters to the Editor

Keep it short and to the point. Newspapers have word limits for letters to the editor. It’s best to keep your letter to 150 words or fewer.

Tell your own story. Explain your personal reasons why you support the Stem Cell Amendment or how stem cell research could help someone close to you.

Keep it positive. Don’t call our opponents names or attack anyone personally. Do focus on our positive messages.

Proofread your letter. Use spell-check and carefully proofread your letter.

Sign your letter and include your address and telephone number. Your address and phone number will not be published, but newspapers do require this information for verification.
